Coach’s Corner is getting a new look! In addition, you may notice a few other changes on the blog in the next few weeks. Rest assured, our content remains the same, as does our commitment to be a place for Christian leaders to grow.
What is transformation? How is it different from just regular old everyday change, and why is transformation important for a Christian leader?
Romans 12:2 tells us not to conform to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
I believe this use of the word “transformed” is referring to sanctification, or becoming holy.

Brené Brown has a lot to say about shame. She first came to wide attention at a TEDxHouston event where she shared what she learned about shame, living fully, and herself in a twenty-minute talk. That talk went on to become one of the most viewed TED talks in history, and she was invited to be the closing speaker at the national TED talk shortly after that.
Shame says that you’re not good enough, not worthy of love, not valuable in your own right. Brené unpacks a lot of this in the two videos I’ve embedded below. God does not want us to feel shame. If you have some time, I highly encourage you to check out the videos below. How has shame affected you? How is it keeping you from having impact on the world around you? If you love these videos as much as I did, you can also check out Brené’s latest book, Daring Greatly.

My vocation and ministry: the doors God has opened and the doors he has closed
My ideas and inspirations
I ended my last post talking about the natural humility that accompanies the realization that everything I am is because of God’s grace, and how this can make me feel weak and meek. Continue reading →
I love the line from former Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer:
Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple.
Today I’m talking about grace and how it relates to leadership. Understanding the concept of grace—God’s grace and also our grace—is important to Christian leaders who desire to have great impact.Continue reading →
